The intensive care unit is the department that treats patients in critical condition. These include patients who were initially admitted to other departments but whose condition has worsened, as well as seriously ill patients brought in by the fire department or emergency medical services. We monitor the progress of these critically ill patients from the moment they arrive in the department. They sometimes remain there for several months.
