Synopsis

On October 19, 2007, President George W. Bush is assassinated before the horrified eyes of the crowd. The film recounts the horror of this fictional situation and the FBI's hunt for the killer in the style of a TV documentary.

Gabriel Range sees Death of a President as a metaphor for September 11, allowing him to better examine its impact on the American psyche. It is a meditation on everything that has happened over the past five years. "To talk about September 11, you have to compare it to something extreme and devastating, like the fictional death of President George W. Bush (...) The war in Iraq and its consequences have called American values into question. The film thus addresses the very nature of patriotism and the effects of security measures without jeopardizing civil liberties," explains the director.
