Tom Ricks, an American novelist in his forties, comes to Paris hoping to reconnect with his daughter.
But nothing goes as planned: staying in a seedy hotel, he finds himself forced to work as a night watchman.
Just when he thinks he has hit rock bottom, Margit bursts into his life. She is English, sensual, and mysterious.
But she imposes strict rules on him: he must not ask her any questions and can only see her twice a week... This strange relationship gradually slips into a passionate affair...
