Synopsis
In a Kyrgyz village, a young boy nicknamed "The Monkey" by his friends because of his slightly protruding ears is waiting to be drafted into military service. Along with other boys his age (17), he experiences his first emotions, first love, and first heartbreaks. His daily life, made painful by his father's alcoholism, leads to the departure of his mother and little sister. Strengthened by this coming-of-age story, "The Monkey" leaves his native village for elsewhere...
