Synopsis
The early 1980s. Haiti is under the thumb of dictator Baby Doc. Despite everything, the country remains a popular tourist destination.
The hotel "La Petite Anse," located on a beach in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince, is a veritable tropical paradise around which gravitates a group of young boys who exchange their charms and tenderness for a few favors, a good meal, sometimes a few dollars... and above all, a little affection and peace. Two American female guests in their fifties, craving tenderness and sex, see their lives turned upside down by the true romantic passion they both feel for Legba, eighteen years old at most and handsome as a god, whom they come to see there every year.
"Vers le Sud" describes their desire, their rivalry, but also their difficulty in coming to terms with the extremely harsh social reality surrounding this little corner of paradise in which they are confined. Until the end, Legba will remain inaccessible to them. Their desire will not be enough; they will always be tourists.
